Brief Overivew

This directory contains information about my technical skills and abilities. In a nutshell, I am a 20+ year technical professional who has specialized on UNIX and derrivative operating systems. The current focus of my consulting practice is corporate infrastructure management and administration.

I help my clients:

• Deploy UNIX systems.
• Do capacity and performance upgrades.
• Recover failed systems (due to hardware, software or human failure).
• Secure systems (security audits, system hardening, etc.)
• Install, configure, and manage database servers (Oracle, Progress).
• Build competent technical architectures (redundant, fast, secure, etc.).
• Deploy Internet technologies safely and securely.
• With server side web programming in PHP and Java.
• Roll out Apache based web servers.
• Set up mail servers based on SendMail and CommuniGate
• Upgrade systems to new hardware.
• Migrate old, proprietary UNIX systems onto new hardware.
• Migrate from proprietary UNIX (all flavors) to RedHat Linux.
• And much, much more.

I started out as, and spent 10 years, programming in the C language. I also work as a high-tech trainer, working for The University of Toronto, Learning Tree, and Gloabl Knowledge. Finally, I also author high-tech training content. I have authored content for both Learning Tree and Gloabl Knowledge.
